Hi.

I have a question regarding hooking up my electric guitar to Garageband (I still have 09)

Is a stereo cable supported or does it need to be mono?

Thanks.

Garageband can handle up to (I believe) 8 inputs at the same time, so stereo is not a problem. It all depends on what interface you use. How are you planning on connecting your guitar to your Mac?

I have a 1/4" male to 1/8" male cable, but its mono. I wasn't sure if I should have gotten stereo instead of mono.

If you want to plug your guitar straight into garageband for the virtual amps, there is no point in wanting a stereo input. Your guitar is mono (well, most likely), so unless you use real physical stereo pedal effects such as stereo chorus or flange, just take your 1/4 to 1/8 adapter and plug it. I've been doing this for a long time and it is the cheapest solution that still gets the job done. Of course, for pro recording, you need a sound card.

All right, thanks. I'll use the mono cable I have now.
