Electronics Gurus: Production Times?

A few reports state that apple have either ordered the next generation iPhone, or companies are bidding for it.

Are there any electronics gurus here that know how long it takes to set up volume production on a device like a mobile phone?

I'm sure this will give a better answer as to when the iPhone 2 will be released than the one given by all the speculation.
