With the Olympics coming up, I thought I would get an HD tuner for my computer as to catch the games in HD. (Don't have/want/need a tv)

I like the Elgato stick, EyeTV, but can't help but notice there are some other 'generic' etc sticks that don't claim Mac support. Has anyone had any luck with finding a cheaper alternative? (They seem to be 50-150$ as compared to 200)

Thanks

My opinion is that Elgato's software, EyeTV is the best for recording tv and they have a list of compatible tuner hardware. Since you only want to record a very select amount of programming you could look at something like the HDhomerun. This is a networked tv tuner that goes for around 100$. You then can record using VLC and not have to buy anything from elgato.

I have a video on using the hdhomerun with eye tv if you are interested.
