Elgato HDTV in Canada

Hello guys, I live in Montreal and all I can hear about Elgato TV tuner is that it's not amazing in Canada. Now, I'm a newbie with HDTV. My Mac could easily handle HD but I don't feel like paying for HD cable service.

What would be the easiest solution to get a descent amount of HD channels running on my mac?
