Ok here is the question. What I am trying to do is capture video to either my PC or my mac mini. I have several computers to work with. My PC being the fastest i7 Quad 8gb of ram yada yada yada.

Should I go with the elgato HD to capture convert and import into itunes? Are there alternatives for the PC? I prefer PC because it is faster.

Elgato has an iphone app that allows me to stream. Not that important because i also use air video. Any thoughts?

Take a look at HDHOMERUN - pretty good system.

I've been really pleased with El Gato products, and their software is awesome.

That being said, if your only goal is capturing, check out external boxes and/or cards to do it. That way you offload the work from your computer to a dedicated hardware device.

I had noticed that the eyetv HD worked only with component input, which is going to become rarer in the future.
