I use an elgato TV tunner on my mbp which is great, but its a bore pluggin it in everytime i need. It just occured to me that if I get a usb hub for my apple extreme (I have an external drive plugged into its usb port at the moment) could I just leave the tunner plugged into that all the time?

has anyone tried it ?

I have an EyeTV EZ plugged into a 4-port hub that also has my camera, 1 external hard drive, and my iPod dock plugged into it. I've had no problems whatsoever. The hub is connected to my MacBook and I haven't had any problems with putting the laptop to sleep, either.

Just make sure you use a powered USB2.0 hub.
