I'm having severe problems with my Ipod and am hoping someone can help. This is what I've done so far. My setup is a computer capable of running Itunes. It has only 1 USB port, however, so I bought a hub, connected it to the port, and then connected a Seagate GoFlex 500GB external drive and my Ipod Classic to the hub.

First, I followed the instructions at Apple. When I tried to move my Media folder to the recycle bin, I found I had no Itunes Media folder -- I had a folder called "Itunes Music". So I tried moving that to the recycle bin, and my computer said the recycle bin wasn't large enough. So I moved the folder and renamed it.

I started Itunes again, and had no music. I saw a message in the window that said Itunes will look for music in my "home" folder and selected it. Then Itunes was populated by all the music originally on C again, and I couldn't find anything on the Seagate. Using Windows Explorer I found and played a file on the Seagate, so the music is on the external hard drive.

So I followed these steps on advice in another forum

1) On the Seagate, I created a folder called "iTunes". Inside that folder, I created a folder and name it "iTunes Media".

2) In iTunes Edit menu>Prefs->Advanced, I set "iTunes Media folder location" to the "iTunes Media" folder on the Seagate. I selected the "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" and "Copy files to iTunes Media folder..." preferences.

3) Then I hit iTunes File menu->Library->Organize library->Consolidate files.

When I tried to sync the Ipod, I had messages saying there were 120 files with unknown error 124. Another message said could not sync to Owners IPO because an unknown error occurred. A third message said 100 files could not be found. Meanwhile the Ipod was dinging on and off like church bells. I ejected the Ipod and said "No Music."

So, following advice on another forum, I re-registered DLLs through a .bat extension. Then I restored the iPod.

Then I tried syncing, the entire music library from the Seagate. A popup from Windows toolbar said that Windows could not delayed write F/System Volume Information /pctefadata/pctefa.db and that data has been lost. Then Itunes said some files could not be found. Then it said I could not access the Ipod because I had insufficient privileges. I tried adding files on F to the Library using the file menu, but it said system volume information not found. I can still access the music files on F through windows explorer.

I don't know what to do now. Maybe I should have my Ipod license revoked and go back to the radio. But if there's any chance of fixing this, I'd really like to take it. Thanks.
