eMac Burning = Slow

Is it normal that my eMac (Combo - drive, i think) only burns CDs at 4x speed? It takes ages! When it asks what speed I want to burn out, all options higher than 4x are blurred out. Is this normal?

What speed are the CDs you are burning to. CDs can only burn as fast as they are stated to.

damn - didn't notice that. These are 4x speed ones, but I had the same problem on a 48x speed CD-R
