eMac CRT dim and slow to boot after upgrades

I ugraded my eMac 2005 1.42 Ghz with a new 250 gb WD Hard drive, new Ram (500 Mb) and to Leopard 10.5. It now boots up slower, the screen is dim at first and flickers for a while. Takes about 5 minutes for display to get to full brightness. I am a bit concerned.

Is this a problem related to my ugrade? Could I have done something to the CRT or is it because of the components I installed? Please advise if you have any ideas.
