Email acc to use with MAIL

I hope this type of question is in the right section, if not can one of the loverly Mods move it please.

I have a hotmail account, which I am getting fed-up with. I want a new email account that I can use with 'Mail' if you can. I don't want a Gmail/Googlemail acc or a Yahoo one. Pref one that is free.

There is no point in me subscribing to MobileMe just for email or is there?

Why don't you want a gmail/yahoo account? gmail is free and integrates pretty well with Mail.app on your Mac (one of the few to offer IMAP access), the iPhone, and has a fast/simple web interface.

Personally, I wouldn't pay for a MobileMe account if you're just using it for email.

There are settings like those that allow you to use any Application...

Google has step-by-step instructions (with pictures), but I think you have to have a gmail account before you can access them (in the help area).

Since gmail accounts are free, no harm in setting one up and playing around a bit with it. Keep it if you like it, delete it if you don't.

I would gladly have a googlemail email account if a) there was a username that I could have without any numbers, full stops and b) if I could read their letters in the image.

I have tried countless names, words (without being silly) that apply to me and they all are gone. Its pointless. I have given up.
