I'm using OS X Yosemite.

I've been trying to delete an old email account in mail but every time I try to delete it in mail preferences it tells me to go to "Internet Accounts" in Preferences as other apps are using it. However when I go to "internet Accounts" the email account isn't there. I've tried looking around for a solution but couldn't find anything. Can anyone help please?

try to disable/enable it on Mail Preference -> Accounts?

I've found a solution to the problem. I had to sign out of my iCloud account as it uses the same email as the one I was deleting.
