Email account

HI all,

I got my new macbook pro today and wow! its my first ever mac and its great.

currently I have an old hotmail account I use but I want to make a new email account but what would be the best one to go with?

I need to be able to use an IM client that will accept hotmail accounts as most of my friends use windows live messenger.

Should I just make a new hotmail account up or is there something better you guys are using that will fit the bill? and keep microsoft out of my life lol

I use Google Mail.

GMail. (I believe it is Google Mail in the UK)

Lots of storage space and some nifty features. The Google contacts are also easy to import to most phones.

It used to be because another company over here had the Gmail trademark, but now it's either.

I use Mobile Me as my main account and gmail for places I don't mind getting a little bit of advertisement from.

What Instant messenger can I use with gmail? I have to be able to talk to contacts who use windows live messenger, webcam thought not essential

Adium is what I use.

for my main email adress i use my own server and domain on imap for my email . ie firstname@secondname.xxx (im hoping none of you ever find out my name ! although its not hard to guess)

for my secondary email adress i use gmail but with imap on thunderbird so no ads and in the same place plus various outher bonuse4s and i can always use the web interface if im on somebody else's computer. i have it setup so i chose to send from my server and email adress if i want to.
