email accounts

hi, i have just moved over from windows and got myself a new 21.5" imac and am loving it.
this may sound like a daft question to most people here but, what i'd like to know is do apple have email accounts like .mac or something, like microsoft has hotmail as i'd like to move away from msoft completely.

Apple has a service called MobileMe that comes with a .me email account, online storage, and easy/automatic syncing of contacts/calendar between computers/ipods/iphones. It's $99 per year or $69 if you buy it with an iPhone.
