email attachments

Can someone help me,
I have been sent an attachment in the .wps format which will not open, I have saved the attachment as .rtf file to my document folder, now when I click once on the file I can see the front page in the preview box just to the right, but it still won't open when I double click it, I get a message saying cannot open the file. What am I doing wrong
