Email badge number incorrect

For the past day the badge number (is that what it is called?) has been wrong. it shows I have 3 new emails when I actually do not have any. Is there a way to reset that number or somehow get it back to being accurate?

You might check to see if you have multiple email accounts set up on your iPhone. One of the secondary accounts may have unread messages in it that is affecting the number on the badge.

Doesn't fix the problem on my iPhone

I have only one email account, a Google Apps account that I have set up on my iPhone using IMAP config recommended by Google. I've been using it for months with no problems. This problem (incorrect banner count) just appeared today.

Anyone have any other ideas?
