Does anyone know of a good email client that still works with OSX 10.9? I'm trying to find one and so far none of them work :(
I've tried Thunderbird and Apple Mail but none of them seem to be able to sign into my hotmail account, even with the legacy mac os proxy.

The built-in authentication methods in old macOS systems don't support the new ones required by mail and web services. "Legacy Mac proxy" cannot modify these for you; it merely translates all HTTP requests to those conforming to the newest TLS specification. In Mavericks, Hotmail, AOL, and Yahoo won't sign you in from within their respective supported mailing clients. The clients are too outdated by this point.

the default mail app still supports gmail with an app password, and icloud mail now can be fixed by installing aquaproxy from mavericksforever.com by wowfunhappy. if you are using another proxy on the side and prefer not to use aquaproxy, you can still use the mail servers by using localhost ports 6532 and 6533 for imap and smtp respectively.
