Where I am
More than likely, this is somehow self inflicted. But...

I will receive a notification of a new email received. I will open the default Mail app, on my iPhone 11 Pro Max (current updated OS). However, when opening the app, I then have to wait for it to check for emails, to then show the email. Rather odd.

Any ideas why this would happen?

Oh, this is a known issue? I feel like it has been happening for the last 4 months or so, but, didn't put too much thought into it...

You didn’t cause that. It is the result of the buggy behavior of the default mail app for many people. File a big report with Apple.

Since I am not currently working, I might look into the Outlook app, for my personal emails.
Once I start working again, I might then switch back to the default app for personal emails, and Outlook app, for work emails.

I like to keep a separation of personal and work.
