Email disappears on my iPhone 4, help?

I'm having a problem with my iPhone 4 email.
I opened email, several emails show up on my iPhone, I get a txt message, so I close email, read my txt, open email again, the emails are there for a second, then disappear!
What is causing this, and can anyone suggest a fix for it?

It would be helpful if you provided a little more information. Like, what email service are you using, are you jailbroken, are you running an Exchange account, etc.
