Every time I download video or even record it using EyeTV and convert it to a chosen format, I seem to end up with a pile of blank email documents on my desktop. Is this for any purpose or is something corrupted on my system? Can I prevent it from happening? I'm getting a bit irritated for the time I have to spend closing these documents afterwards.

You mean the icons look like these?

If so, that means no proper icon has been found or assigned for the file type you end up having shown on the Desktop.

Can you provide further information about what kind of video files you download on what Mac OS X version and how you transcode them (software and settings) to what format?
You can also open GET INFO for the "email" documents you see on your desktop, to find out more about them.

So sorry, I got distracted and didn't realise someone had replied to this!

No, I don't get icons that look like that. I get an email message opening with the converted file (for iPod) attached to the email. Is that normal and why does the programme think I want to send it to someone?
