iPod touch Email has no horizontal scroll

My email has been working fine until last week. Now there is a strange red bar that appears at the bottom of the screen and not only can't I hold my finger down to scroll horizontally but when I turn my ipod the screen won't rotate either...

I attached a picture of what I am talking about

ps. I'm still getting all of my emails..
