I really want to get this email problem fixed that I've been having since June 29. I'd say only 70% of emails actually come to both my iPhone and Mail.app inboxes. The other 30% come to just one of the two. If anyone would be kind enough to give me suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.
I have 4 email addresses that I have set up to filter into my Gmail account. This adds a little lag time, but I can live with that. By the way, is there any way to get Gmail to check these accounts more often? Say every 5 minutes? It usually checks every hour or so. The mail that comes into mail.google.com seems to work just fine, except for the minor delay.
So here are the settings for each aspect of my email system. This is an incomplete list of the settings; I only listed the ones that seemed important to solving this problem.
iPhone:
Settings > Mail > Gmail > Advanced > Incoming and Outgoing use SSL : Both "ON"
Settings > Mail > Gmail > Advanced > Authenticaton : Password
Settings > Mail > Gmail > Advanced > Delete from server : Never
Settings > Mail > Gmail > Advanced > Use Recent Mode : Off (I have turned this off, but that only results in all sent messages showing up in my inbox. It was very annoying to delete all these sent messages)
Settings > Mail > Auto-Check : Every 15 minutes
Settings > Mail > Default Account : Gmail
Mail.app
Preferences > Gmail > Advanced > Remove copy from server after retrieving a message : Unchecked
Both Incoming and Outgoing SSL turned on
Gmail
Settings > Accounts > "edit info" (for each email account it fetches)
- Leave copy of retrieved message on the server : Checked
- Always use SSL : Checked
- Archive incoming messages : Unchecked
Settings > Forwarding and POP > Disable Forwarding (selected)
Settings > Forwarding and POP > Status : "POP is enabled"
Settings > Forwarding and POP > When messages are accessed with POP : "Keep Gmail's copy in the inbox"
I really hope someone can help me out here. I rely on email heavily as a primary means of communication, and can't afford to not get emails in my inboxes. Thanks in advance.
Does anyone have any suggestions? This is issue driving me crazy!
