Help

I have no problem recieving emails on my Mac book Pro, but cannot send them, the connection doctor says some are online some are not, it does not make sense, surely if I can recieve them I should be able to send them. Even replies do not work, please please someone help me resolve this. I even took the thing to the Apple store and they could not sort it:(

What are "online, some not"? Accounts, specific messages, what?

Are you using more than one email provider or account? Please list the services you are using. POP, IMAP, Exchange?

Which email client do you use? Which OS?

What are your email client's SMTP settings?

Let's start there.

That's not a lot to go on with. Okay, I'll assume you're using Mail.app on Lion and your provider is Hotmail via Exchange ActiveSync.

Go into your account profile in Mail and check to see that the server settings for your account are as follows:

Server address: s.outlook.com
Domain: <leave empty>
User name: Your email address
Password: Your password
TLS/SSL encryption required: Yes

If you're using IMAP, the settings are different. Usually these sending probs are due to incorrect SMTP (outgoing server) settings, but if you're using Exchange it shouldn't be an issue.

If I knew what your current server settings were I might better be able to steer you in the right direction.
