We’re vacationing in Europe. In Germany and Austria at least my email hasn’t worked. I’ve also tried on my MacBookPro. I’m using Xifinity. It doesn’t work on the Xfinity app either. The connection doctor said something about deselecting SSL or something. I don’t see where that option is. I click on the internet accounts and there’s just the user name and password. So for now my Comcast/icloud/IMAP won’t send if receive email. Any tips for me here? I’m going to be here for another 8 days. It’s going to be tough without email communication.

You might also hit up the Comcast subreddit, which is monitored by Comcast staff:

Set flair to "New Post - Tech Support", and a Comcast employee should offer help. (Also a redditor might have an idea, too.)

Here’s the weird thing. It only happens in hotels. So there’s something in their security server settings. It’s been like this in every hotel - Prague, Vienna, maybe not Munich, and the hotel we’re staying in Paris. But not on any of the trains.

Something in the hotel WiFi security is preventing it. VPN might bypass that; if you aren’t using iCloud Private Relay (and you have iCloud+; ie you subscribe to iCloud storage of some amount) try enabling that first. If that doesn’t sort it, 3rd party VPN from the App Store.
