email notifications on ios 4.x

Hi,

I dont know if this is a common issue or something with my setup.

I run iphone 4 32gb on ios 4.1 and have 3 IMAP email accounts set up on it.

When I recieve an email I can read the email, reply to it, even delete it without ANY notification coming in (no bing sound). About 2 minutes AFTER I have read/replied etc the phone goes bing!

Any ideas?

I have tried this on 4.0, 4.0.1, 4.0.2 and 4.1 on both iphone 4 and 3GS.

Help?
