Email on different TCP port - doesn't work - SYN,ACK,FIN

Hi,

I have to use email/imap on a different port (as port 993 for imap/ssl is blocked).

However, it does not work. I see that the iPhone tries to establish the connection, and it seems to properly work with the three way SYN/SYNACK/ACK handshake. But then nothing happens.. for a long time, when the connection is reset again using FIN. I verified that the same packets arrive at the destination as they were sent. The problem is independent of the connection (same on WLAN/3G).

Has anyone had success in using email (imap/ssl) on a different tcp port? I'd be glad to get "the trick"...
