iPod touch Email pics go blurry when saved to photos?

I have nice quality pics that I can even expand and they still look great while in the email. As soon as I save them to photos, most of them turn blurry.
Anything to fix this?
I did a search, nothing came up.

EDIT: Also, when I sync the ipod to itunes, will those photos dissappear cause they're not in itunes?

The only thing I can think of is that your iPod is somehow saving just the thumbnail, not the original picture. I'm not sure how to correct this, maybe in the options for Mail?

The pictures should get synced to iPhoto via iTunes.

There isn't anything under photos or settings to do with that.
You just tap a pic, and save photo comes up and just tap that and it's saved. So really nothing else to do.
Atleast they won't delete when I sync, thanks.
