I got a call from one of my employees who experience and very odd phenomenon today while composing an email.

She went to respond to an email in the Mail app. and wrote a few words then stopped and went to the restroom. When she returned she could see someone typing into that very same email including the use of emojis. I asked her to take a screen shot and send it to me. The computer is about 2 weeks old and a brand new MacBook Pro 13" A2338. No additional software installed beyond Office 2019 and Zoom.

Any ideas on what happened? I will change her email password at the end of the day. Beyond that I'm not sure how to proceed.

Here's a screen shot of the message. She wrote the first 3 words before initially stopping.

Honestly, I wonder if Siri picked up and started dictating...!
If you notice, there are no punctuations and such.

I was kind of thinking the same thing when reading what was written..seemed like a voice to text. I'm still waiting for some more details from her before implementing a plan of attack.

Looks to me that something was inadvertently touching the typing suggestions that would have been displaying in the Touch Bar.
Pretty sure it's this. Typing suggestions can do sensible, yet non-sensible text.

Here's an example of me touching the same spot on my Touch Bar right now...
I'm sure you can still send me a message or text or if it is not connected with it or anything to help with someone or not even if I want a good time I love it and love you 😍 😘 😽 and your dad are not going on the same way you can get a hold on your account number is it your name to use the name for it or not the location at this time of my iPad I have a new one ☝️ but it's still good 😊 👍 😌 and then again to see what happens to be a little too soon 🔜 be careful when I see your new location and the info on my iPhone 📱 ☎️ 📲 📞 I'm just a few weeks back to be a bit better but not a lot better now if it's a new phone 📞 ☎️ 📱 📲 your

I initially thought this too, but Siri/dictation does not use emojis.

I'm sure that's what is was, especially knowing this person. Great job figuring this out, thanks!

That's what I thought, because the lack sentence endings. A few days ago my wife and I were to meet some friends, so before we left I texted to let them know that we were on our way, and put my iPhone in the car's beverage tray. Maybe I happened to touch the microphone when putting the phone in the tray, and the phone wrote every word we said. When I picked my phone I realized that it had written 5 pages of text without commas, periods and so on. At least it didn't "send" it :)

Haha; could you imagine if you said something bad, “I really don’t want to go to this thing…” and it sent it, too.

That is definitely paranormal activity. Her laptop may have been transported to another plan of existence for the duration of her being away. In that plane was a phantom playing games with her machine, fully intending on performing spell and grammar checking prior to releasing the message. But her sudden return caused the planes to converge, vacating the phantom, and leaving it in that state.

That can be the only explanation given that Siri can’t type emoji.

Yes. That's why I was quite happy to find that I hadn't tapped "Send" by accident. The iPhone was just listening and writing our conversation.
