I asked them if and when they plan on selling it without drives as some of us already have USB enclosures with 2TB drives and that it wouldn't make sense for us to drop 1500 for an r6 with drives since we already have them. Seems like they are cutting out a huge market by not doing so, when and if I get a response I will let you chaps know.

Thank you for your inquiry. The decision was made to sell them only with drives. It is in line with the Apple idea of something ready to work right out of the box. We also want to ensure people use drives that are tested and verified as compatible. Thanks again.

Shame

That's a shame. Especially with the recent price rise of HDDs. The overall price of the unit has already gone up since they were launched.
