Emailing photos from iPhoto library through Outlook.com web mail

Is there any direct way to email photos from the iPhoto library through the Outlook.com or Gmail.com web mail interface (= not through Apple Mail)?

I think this can only be done by first dragging the photos to the Finder and then attach them as files in the web mail interface - but maybe I am wrong and there is a more elegant and direct way?
