ok. got my iPhone 4s this morning like everyone else. i set the phone up, really easy. now when my phone is asleep and i get an email. i have an idea until i turn the phone on and check my email. this shouldn't be normal. i had my wife send a text to the phone while it was asleep and hello you have a text. woke it right up. checked my notifications, everything is on. I've been sending emails from my wifes computer and the phone just sleeps there like an "occupy wall street protester". am i missing something?
other than this issue, i love my phone. i got a black 32gb from sprint. ups delivered it this morning around 10. I've been living it up.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

Expected behavior. iPhone will give a mail chime but will not wake phone. (Thank God! I'd feel sorry with spammy email accounts)

Fixed it
another forum person told me to delete the account and set up my gmail through the microsoft exchange setup using m.google.com as the server. did this and now it works perfect.
