i recently bought a macbook pro and i synced my gmail account with the mail app and whenever i go to delete my messages from my account they all show back up in my inbox the next time i get on the mail app, does anyone have a solution to this?

There is a setting under mail - preferences - mailbox behavior

you can unclick "store deleted messages on the server"

then I think it will delete your messages off the server so they don't download again.

Basically by default you are only deleting messages off your local machine - so each time you log on it's pulling them down again...

at least that's my guess :)

The key setting is to check/enable Preferences -> Accounts -> [Gmail Account] -> Mailbox Behaviors -> "Move deleted messages to the Trash mailbox"

I don't think this is enabled by default, which means when you hit "delete" it is actually archiving the email in your "All Mail" folder instead of actually moving it into the trash.
