I believe what he means is a "picture in picture" type thing.
Where there is for instance a video playing with a different video in a smaller box playing.

final cut pro (maybe express?) you can do picture in picture I'm pretty sure.

You cannot do this in iMovie because you are only allowed one video track. You can do this in Final Cut Express.

yes you can if you have FCExpress or pro using keyframes

You can also create a picture-in-picture if you have Quicktime Pro.
