Embedding an Icecast Stream into a Web Browser

we have set up an icecast stream using a QTSS server. It works great when opening up the URL in Quicktime player using the icy:// URL. Ideally what we would like to do is embed the icecast stream into a webpage is this not possible? I have found some documentation on the web, but my web guy said he is having difficulties embedding it with the icy:// protocol. Also, for some reason the http:// URLs do not work for the stream when I type in the URl into any web browser except Internet Explorer any reason for this? Any assitance would be greatly appreciated.
