Emoticons on 4s

Hi!

New to the iPhone which I am loving so far. I activated the ability to add emoticons to text messages but they still do not appear on my wife's Droid 3, yeah I know but she wanted a keyboard.

Any way to make this work? I added 2nd keyboard in general settings to get the emoticons to show up.

As I recall they only show up on another iPhone
But that may have changed

Only work with iPhone or iPads

Like he/she said. Only works on Apple devices pretty much.
