I accidentally emptied the trash with files I didn't want to delete. I heard this can't be undone? is that true?

There are file recovery utilities
Most have mixed results

You can check at versiontracker.com to find them
Search for file recovery

FileSalvage

If you are serious about getting them back, you shouldn't use your drive at all until you do

You can get a free demo of Data Rescue II which will show you (nonedestructively) what files it would be able to recover if you purchase a license. I have used it in several difficult circumstances and it has done well.

I like to add to this question.

Can you restore the file in Trash if you have NOT empty it? What is the key for mouse command?

There isn't one. Open finder and just Drag the file back to where it came from. It's TRASH not a recycle bin :)

And to add to that, the Trash is NOT under ANY circumstances a safe place to store your files.

I use it to sort image files lol

I make sure it's empty, open up justlooking.app, and scroll through images, deleting whatever ones I wish to move.

I then open the Trash and drag them all to another folder.
