Empty battery icon

Alright guys, when I plug in my 3g all i get is an empty battery icon with the small lighting bolt....I have left it charging for a few hours and tried to reset it but nothing happens.

I have another iphone and its not the icon that says to plug it in.

PLEASE HELP!!!!:apple:
