Hi - wondering if some kind soul out there could provide guidance.

I have a folder of files on my local drive that are part of CMS. The files contain some data that are potentially sensitive. They are of all different types, i.e. PDF, JPG even DOC files.

I would like to 'mass' clear the contents of the files but keep the files in place as
'placeholders' in the folder. This way we can test our CMS functions without risk of the file contents being exposed to a 3rd party developer.

I understand in UNIX I could use cat/dev/null but I'm not sure if this is the safest way and if I can process all 2000 files this way. Also - can I replace the blank files with the originals again when done?

Any thoughts would be really appreciated!
Thanks
