Is it possible to emulate a newer version of Mac OSX on an older version?

I would like to emulate Mavericks or Yosemite on Snow Leopard using either Parallels, VMWare Fusion or something similar?

Thank you for your advice!

@counters: It is possible. I used Mac OS X 10.4.11 up to OS X 10.9.5 in a VMware Fusion v3.1.4 VM under Snow Leopard. Very complicated. Yosemite does not work in VMware Fusion 3, not even if you install Yosemite on a second virtual HDD (guest OS in the VM: OS X 10.9.5).
