I am looking for an emulator to play lemmings, mechwarrior, and such.

I did find http://emulation.victoly.com/macintosh/

Most of the links are dead.

Being the completely naive person that I am I don't know how to run any of the ones I can download.

Anyone know a simple emulator or a way I can educate myself on how to use one from the site above?

Not knowing exactly what your machine is, or what OS version you need to run, I suggest you Google a program called SheepShaver - which emulates classic OS environments.

I have a 10.3.9 G4

I go to memory/misc and select a ROM but I get this message when I press start

InvaLid ROM file size. SheepShaver requires a 4mb PCI powermac ROM

OK. You still need to be a little (lot) more descriptive...

1. The games you speak of, did they come with a Mac you used to own?
2. What was the OS version that you originally ran them with (or did you just find these on the internet now)?
3. If the answer to 1. is yes, do you still have the OS cd that came with the computer?
4. Where did you go to memory/misc? On your machine, or the website?
5. Did you download one of the SheepShaver versions? There are different ones, which will depend on the answer to 2.

1. Yes, Mechwarrior 2
2. I believe it was OS 8
3. I think so
4. The preferences of SheepShaver
5. Sheepshaver 2.3

Ok, I've got my mac 7, 8, and 9 discs. I have no idea how to extract the ROM! .

I need basilisk but it looks like this? How do I download that? http://basilisk.cebix.net/

You'll need a Power PC or Motorola Mac to extract the RAM from it, and a RAM extraction software utility.
Google around and you may find a ROM file to restore yours in case your old mac is bad.

Ok I got a ROM file from mac os update

http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macos/362

I try to open it with sheepshaver.

First I get

Sheepshaver warning: selected less than a 8 MB mac RAM, using 8MB

I press Ok

The window appears. It starts out black than turns grey and I get a window

'
"The appliaction Sheepshaver has unexpectedly quit."

Sheepshaver is still going after that and the grey window just sits there loading forever.

Ok, I have no idea how to install Basilisk. I got vMac and I get the "The vmac.rom could not be found." I have the ROM. Where do I put the rom?
