Enable wallpaper on iPhone 3G (OS4)?

I know that multitasking will cause the 3G to lag, so I don't plan on enabling that. But does wallpaper alone cause lag? Everywhere I search I only come across people claiming the lag coming from both multitasking and wallpaper, what about wallpaper by itself?
 
Multitask and background wallapaper wasn,t avaliable on my OS4 upgrade on my 3G.Doesn,t matter now though as iam back to 3.1.3 and happy :)
