Enabling Trim Reduces Disk Write Speed

I noticed on my mid-2009 MBP with a 128GB Samsung 830, using the trim enabler tool, with it on my write speed is ~170 with it off it is ~210.

I still don't fully understand if I need it on or off, but now that I'm seeing this I wonder if it should be left off.
