Enclosure for removed Superdrive?

I don't understand why the external enclosures for displaced Superdrives are more expensive than complete optical drives? Especially when many criticize these enclosures for feeling cheap. What gives? I'm trying hard to justify re-using my removed Superdrive but it's foolish not to swing for a cheaper (and entirely new) optical drive from Samsung, LG, etc.
