Encrypted dmg space

Hi, I have been creating multiple encrypted .dmg's from folders of various sizes (and selecting the "read/write" option to allow changes.

What determines how much I can add to one of my created .dmg's? Sometimes when I try adding a file it says right off the bat that the .dmg is full. Other times I am able to add gigs until it says it's full.

Is there any way I can make an unlimited space .dmg and just keep adding to it?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

You haven't seen fast. Several times I saw thread via Forum Spy, where up to five posters answered the same time (or in short succession, seconds) within the first minute of the thread being "born".
