I have an encrypted 2TB Seagate external hard drive which I've been using for the past 1-2 years with no problem. A few days ago while in use, the hard drive turned off. I plugged it back in, my macbook recognised it and it asked for the password. After entering it, the window turns grey for 1-2 mins and then shakes as if the password is incorrect.

I'm 100% sure I'm using the correct password, so I opened disk utility and used the repair disk function but it says it can not be repaired. Do I have any other option to recover the data?

There are also third party hard drive recovery specialist who can get the data but it better be important because of the costs.

I bet the NSA could get it!
