I'm currently using Mac OS X 10.3, and I was wondering if there's any way to encrypt an individual folder. I have tried File Vault before, but that wasn't exactly what I had in mind.

- Thanks in advance !

I've also been wondering this. I have a number of critical documents containing bank account information, and would like to get it locked up, but still easily accessible (for me).

Here's a tip I learned on the macrumors site,

make an encrypted dmg file with disk utility.

Bah, complicated, but each to their own... Look for a widget called "DashCrypt". Its drag and drop encryption :) . Awesome... Picture 1.jpg

Looks like a good idea but I found it to be a really annoying widget you need to drag with your right hand while reaching over with your left to press the dashboard then the widget flips around for the password, then you have to flip the widget around again so it will be ready to decrypt. I prefer the disk utility.

To use DU to encrypt a folder go to File>new>disk image from folder and select 'encrypt'

But you can also make a blank encrypted disk image for dropping things into. This is more useful.
