End Contract Date with ATT

My contract date with ATT ends 11/12/12. I want to switch to Verizon when I get the iPhone5.

Do I have to wait until after that date to buy the phone or can I buy it now and wait to activate after the date?

U should call AT&T, otherwise people will just be giving you answers off guesses. I assume since u want to keep your number u should wait till your contract up but since your ETF is only 10 bucks u can go ahead n do it now if you got the extra 10 bucks lol

Call and see what your ETF is at this point.

Might be worth it to just quit now.

My ETF would be $95 ($325 - $230). NOt sure why you guys think it would be only $10?

If you don't want to pay any ETF, wait until 11/13 and you'll be off contract. Once that day comes, port to VZW.

As far as I know, if you order it shipped to you from Apple, then they do not port your number until you activate it so you should be fine. If you get it in store, then they port your number right away as they activate it right away.

If you buy it from Verizon, I don't know when they do the porting.
