Hi Guys,

Currently enrolled in the iUP and ready to upgrade. With the new iPhone X (256gb) per month I'm going to be paying almost £80 (iUP + Sim Only Plan) which is getting ridiculous.

I was wondering if it's possible to end the iUP programme early?

For example, could I just hand my iPhone back to Apple and NOT upgrade? Would this terminate my loan and therefore my enrollment to the programme?

Cheers,

Dan

You can end it any time, see my answer below

You can end it, by paying off the phone, you cannot end it by turning in your phone and saying you're done. It doesn't work that way. You bought a phone and you have a loan to payoff, and since the phone is outside of the return window your only option is to pay it off. Apple allows a trade in, but only for the next phone and your continued payment

Perfect, thanks for clearing that up for me :)

Essentially IUP is just a 0% loan to pay off your phone over 20 months but with the option to renegotiate the loan after 11 months. You don't have to upgrade and all you're doing if you don't is paying off your phone (& Apple Care). Assuming you bought your phone in Sept 2016 and don't pay off the full outstanding amount now, then in 8-9 months you will own your phone and your monthly payments will stop.
