endless reboot when trying to jailbreak

jailbreak stuck (

I have a 3.1.2 tethered iphone (

I've jailbroken it a number of times (every reboot in fact) but this time, it just sits there with the geohot image, then reoots and back to the recovery mode screen again

just to help....here's my steps

1) start phone, enters recovery mode (itunes - USB image)
2) plug phone into PC, itunes recognises phone in recovery mode and requests to update f/w
3) close dialogue box (clicking 'x')
4) run blackrain
5) click make it rain
6) get gehot face image...and message on PC to run again for tethered boot
7) run blackrain again...get geohot face...
8) wait......phone reboots in recovery mode again

back to where I started..i'm pretty sure I haven't done anything differently to how I've done it in the past.

any ideas? I'm lost without my phone

Try this first: cltr+delete, then, end the process 'iTunesHelper.exe'. Then try running blackra1n again.

happened to me on my 3g. i just hit home+lock until it powered down and then started it up by briefly pressing lock. after that it worked. id try reinstalling the firmware and then blackrain if that doesnt work.
