endless spinning wheel, new drive and not liking macs much. pls help

Hi smart people.

iBook G4
flashing smile and question mark at startup. boot from cd Use disk utility - local harddisk is not listed.
Failed harddrive.
replaced harddrive. (with much difficulty)

Picks up the new 80GB drive.
I formatted it.
I installed the OS from the supplied CD 1 of 2 - it never promted me for the second.

Restart. Grey screen with endless spinning wheel. One day if anyone reads this and would like to respond pls email me at bizznetmail@gmail.com.

Boot from CD. Use disk utility. Disk is listed. Repair permissions. Repair disk.

Is your install disk the correct one for that iBook? did it come with your purchase from Apple?

Yes - the correct cd's shipped with the mac. I've reseated everything and am about to leave it on the road, inline with the front wheel of a big oncoming truck.

you might try taking it to the Apple store and asking them to look at it. Can't hurt to try.
