Hi all, question regarding how much electricity the mac uses. got my bill in and it's way to high. I leave my mac on 24/7 in sleep mode when i'm not using it. does this still use a high level of electricity?

I forget the specific wattage, but no, relative to an A/C unit, refridgerator, fish tank, or whatever, sleep mode is not going to be the culprit for your high electric bill.

Leaving a TV on standby (just pressing power on the remote) uses a lot more power than a mac in sleep.

Tube TV yes, newer LCD not likely.

Mac at sleep probably uses around 10 watts electricity - minimal.

Does it sleep however? My Mac Pro won't ever go to sleep even though I have set it up to do so. I have to do it manually every night.
